Celebrations of World Turtle Day are held annually on May 23rd by American
Tortoise Rescue (ATR), an organization that operates on a charitable basis.
The purpose of this event is to bring attention to the myriad challenges that these reptiles are currently facing
including the degradation of their habitat, pollution, the illegal trafficking in wildlife, and issues related to climate change.
In addition to this, it teaches people about the absolute significance of protecting the environments in which they live.
Let us investigate the various ways that we might celebrate World Turtle Day.
Susan Tellem and Marshall Thompson, the creators of ATR and World Turtle Day, champion the humane treatment of all animals, including reptiles.
Since 1990, ATR has facilitated the placement of approximately 4,000 tortoises and turtles in loving homes.
Additionally, ATR collaborates with law enforcement agencies in cases involving undersized or endangered turtles, offering valuable information to individuals caring for sick, neglected, or abandoned turtles.
